Looking after

Home to stunning scenery, wonderful wildlife and rich heritage, welcoming communities and brilliant opportunities for recreation, the Yorkshire Dales National Park is a very special place.

The National Park is a home and a workplace for over 24,000 people, with around 95% of the land in private ownership. People who farm, manage and own the land; people who live in and own the buildings ;people who own and work in the businesses; people who give up their time to volunteer, they are all at the heart of looking after it.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Management Plan sets out the ambitions for how the National Park will be looked after over the next five to ten years. It guides us in our work to secure a prosperous future for the National Park and its communities.
