There is a fantastic array of small independent shops in our towns and villages. The larger towns, such as Reeth, Hawes, Sedbergh, Pateley Bridge and Grassington, have a larger selection of shops, cafes and pubs. Just outside the National Park you can find bigger market towns - such as Skipton, Richmond, Kirkby Lonsdale and Kirkby Stephen - with a selection of independent and chain stores as well as supermarkets.

This section features people who make their products in the Yorkshire Dales and some of the great arts and culture you can find here. Also, if you want to take home something you have made yourself - whether that it a piece of art or a sausage - you can find ideas in our workshops and experiences pages.

Form enjoying a coffee outside enjoying the view to curling up by a real fire in winter, there is a great range of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the Dales. And if you want to pick up a gift then there is a superb range of independent shops, local artists and crafts people.

The Yorkshire Dales is also well known for its cheeses such as Wensleydale, and for its large number of artisan brewers. Picking up tasty local produce has never been easier with a number of farm shops and delis in the area, and of course it forms part of many menus.
