Activities for kids

Great ideas for what to do with the kids whatever the weather.

Attractions

Castles, museums, arts, crafts, wildlife and outdoor attractions.

Go Wild! days are free family drop-in sessions open to everyone.

Every Go Wild! day is fun, there will be lots of activities to get you closer to nature. In the summer there will always be stream dipping - don't forget your wellies! There will also be lots of different crafty ways to discover what is special about the National Park.

Where are they being held?

This year we are running Go Wild! at Aysgarth Falls, Malham, Grassington, Kirkby Lonsdale, Hawes and even at Tebay Service Station!

When are they happening?

You can find dates for each venue in our what's on search.

What age range is it for?

Our activities are designed for people aged 5 to 12 years old, but everyone is welcome. Whatever your age or abilities there will always be something for you to do!

How much is it?

It's free. There is no charge for taking part.

How do I book?

There is no need to book. To take part all you have to do is drop in between 11am and 3pm. If you are planning on bringing a group please let us know so that we can make sure we have enough equipment. All children must be accompanied by an adult who can help them with activities and keep them safe.

Accessibility

Activities will be accessible for children with disabilities. The site at Malham is fully accessible but the site at Aysgarth may not be suitable for wheelchairs. Please contact our friendly Information Advisors at Malham National Park Centre or Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre if you need more details about access.

Comments from last year's Go Wilders:

'We all enjoyed the trail and making the 'bee house' which is now hanging in our garden.'

'The staff and volunteers were patient kind and enthusiastic. My children are 2 and 5 and they loved it -I can't wait for the next one!'

'The event was great. The staff were very knowledgeable and the children were engaged in the event at all times. Excellent – will be looking out for future events.'
