The Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are among the best known hills in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Every year thousands come to reach the top of at least one, or to conquer all three in one go.

Many people's first peak. A classic circuit from Horton-in-Ribblesdale with good paths, great scenery and the impressive Hunt and Hull Pots on the way down.
Starting from the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct this route takes you to the highest point in Yorkshire - Whernside. On a clear day there are great views out to the Howgills, the Lake District and Morecambe Bay.

Walking all Three Peaks?
The classic walk - 24 miles, three peaks, and 12 hours to complete the circuit. This route description will help guide you. But go prepared with an Ordnance Survey map and know how to use it.

The number of organised walks puts pressure on the area, and can result in negative impacts on residents, rescue services, the environment, local amenities and other users.
Help keep the Three Peaks special for all to enjoy by ensuring your walk is well planned, respects the environment and supports the local community. Here’s how:
- Let us know about your walk with our free notification scheme and receive our free Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk Guidelines. These guidelines will ‘point you in the right direction’ about what you need to organise and consider to ensure your walk minimises its impact and supports the area.
- Circulate the Yorkshire Three Peaks Code of Conduct to your group. These simple messages show what every individual can do to help keep the Three Peaks special for all to enjoy. Pass them on to everyone in your group.
