Unlike many of the National Park's waterfalls, this spectacular water feature can be seen from miles away. Reaching the top is quite a feat as the smooth grassy slope beside it is very steep. In the valley below, archaeologists have discovered an Iron Age settlement with a stone-lined avenue leading towards the foot of the falls. The nearest town to Cautley Spout is Sedbergh, but if you want to do a short walk to the falls then the best place to park is close to the Cross Keys Inn. This lovely National Trust owned property is a great place for a spot of lunch.
