Eastern dales and valleys

The Eastern Dales has attractive market towns and villages, the historic city of Ripon, Lightwater Valley theme park and plenty of things to see and do.

For those that enjoy the great outdoors, there's everything from mountain biking and gorge walking to trout fishing and trekking with llamas. All these activities can be found in Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with its wild windswept moors and gentle green meadows. A favourite base for exploration is Pateley Bridge with its wide range of accommodation.

In Lower Wensleydale the countryside becomes gentler with rolling fields. Masham is a vibrant town famous for its breweries and arts and crafts. Ripon is one of the oldest cities in Britain with its lovely cathedral and an array of unusual attractions and quaint streets.

Lower Wensleydale

Lower Wensleydale runs from Masham to Ripon. There are lovely market towns, great food and drink producers and stunning attractions.

Nidderdale

Nidderdale is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has wild heather moorland, large reservoirs and attractive market towns and villages.
