Grassington, October 11, 2011.
Business people operating in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales are being given the chance to meet up to swap experiences and learn how to improve their marketing.
The Dales Tourism Business Network (DTBN) is hosting two free sessions focussing on practical marketing advice around the theme of public relations (PR) and will explore the best ways to use PR to attract the right visitors, ways to get visitors to act more sustainably and ways to generate coverage for lesser known, niche places alongside the big name attractions.
The events – which have already attracted more than 50 businesses – will be held between 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Monday, October 17, at Fountains Abbey near Ripon and from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on November 2 at the Jonas Centre in Redmire.
The DTBN is informal and free to join, and gives members access to information, events and regular informative newsletters. It was established by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), working with Susan Briggs of the local marketing company The Tourism Network.
Anyone who would like to register for the event should contact Susan at susan@tourismnetwork.co.uk.
Mark Allum, the YDNPA’s Recreation and Tourism Manager, said: “We have been really pleased with the response from tourism businesses to the setting up of the DTBN. There is a real enthusiasm for working together to support tourism and protect the special qualities of the National Park and Nidderdale AONB.”
Susan said: “Our networking and learning events are usually free to attend – thanks to the generosity of our hosts – and they're all designed to be useful, stimulating and fun. They give members the chance to meet other tourism providers in the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale, to network, share ideas and learn from each other.”
