Go Green!

The YDNPA encourages businesses to take simple measures to improve the sustainability of their business and reduce costs, without sacrificing guest comfort and satisfaction.  Here are some things we are offering to help you go green.

Brilliant Businesses

If you need inspiration to improve your business or are interested in what other businesses have achieved, have a look at our ‘Brilliant Businesses’ case studies of local providers with inspiring ideas.

Become Cycle Friendly

On the back of the Grand Depart and the Tour de Yorkshire, making your business Cycle Friendly is another way in which you can attract more visitors. For a few helpful tips on things to consider when making your business more attractive to this market, see our Making your Business Cycle Friendly page.

Show your Support for Wildlife Conservation

There are a number of rare species of wildlife that visitors are attracted to come and see for themselves and we are working with local landowners to encourage visitor access to viewing sites. We are currently offering local businesses the opportunity to support wildlife conservation projects and for more information on how your business could benefit see our Supporting Wildlife Conservation pages.

Green Accreditation

Ultimately you may want your green credientials and the work you've done to become 'greener' to be recognised and to become accredited by a certification scheme.  For more details on a few of the schemes you might consider, see our Green Accreditation pages.

Funding available from YDNPA

The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) is a small fund that is available each year to support projects that promote a more sustainable way of living and working in and visiting the National Park, whilst conserving and enhancing our local culture, wildlife, landscape, land use and communities. Over the years, the fund has supported projects undertaken by a number of our Brilliant Businesses, including Nethergill Farm, Bower Bank, Dales Bike Centre and Kilnsey Park Estate.

If you think you have a project which might fit the criteria have a look through the information on our website or ring Andrea Burden, the Sustainable Development Officer on 01969 652337 or email sdf@yorkshiredales.org.uk.
