YAC Volunteer, Amanda Beckwith

How long have been a volunteer?

A good question! I think I started in about 2008.

Why did you want to become a volunteer?

I have an interest in art and archaeology - seemed like a good combination for the Young Archaeologist's Club.

What do you do as a volunteer?

I am an assistant leader with the Young Archaeologists Club - I do arty stuff and am a general giddy-kipper!

What do you enjoy about being a volunteer?

Getting out, meeting people, nurturing enthusiasm in the kids who come to the Club.

What’s been your greatest achievement as a volunteer?

Managing to hold a session on geophysics. I had no background in it (I'm a graphic designer!) and it proved to be rather successful. I learned a lot myself that day...

Where is your favourite place in the Yorkshire Dales National Park?

The top of Burnsall Fell on a clear day. It looks out over my home village and it is beautiful.
