A large area of moorland and hill pasture owned by the Bolton Abbey Estate. An open access agreement with the estate allows free access to the moor except when they are shooting, check at Grassington National Park Centre for details. No dogs are allowed except on public rights of way.
The prominent conical war memorial on the fell commemorates all the people from the area who died in the First and Second World Wars. During the Second World War, the looming hillside proved to be a hazard for nightime flying RAF planes so a series of searchlight batteries were installed in Cracoe to warn off approaching aircraft.
