We have recently improved a busy footpath across a hay field, between Hawes and Sedbusk. This path was starting to suffer from erosion which was resulting in walkers spreading out. This created a wider muddy path.
It was decided that the most appropriate method to prevent further erosion was to stone flag the surface. Stone flag footpaths are very common particularly in the valley bottoms where they often linked settlements to places of work. We brough in reclaimed stone flags were bought in by tractor and trailer to site. As can be seen from the images the new stone flagged path soon looked like a natural part of the landscape.
